Help Tyler Raise Money for Boston Eye and EarWednesday February 26, 10:01 PM
Many of you know Tyler Martin. He has been a member of the League as a player and former manager for the Seadogs (and member of the Gansett Brewers) since 2003. He will be running his first marathon to support those affected by the bombings at the Boston Marathon last year and to raise money for Massachusetts Eye and Ear charity.
Massachusetts Eye and Ear researches cures for blindness and deafness. They helped many of the people at the Boston Marathon last year who lost eyesight and hearing because of the bombs.
He has asked me to reach out to the RIMSBL family to help him raise $7,500 for a wonderful charity and support those affected by the horrible events at the Marathon last year.
Please consider a donation on his behalf at his website - http://www.crowdrise.com/teameyeandear/fundraiser/tylermartin1
In Memory of George NasutiTuesday February 25, 12:16 PM
The Rhode Island Men’s Senior Baseball League mourns the passing of George Nasuti. George passed away February 12, 2014 as the result of a basketball related accident.
George joined the RI Mariners as a catcher in 1995. He was one of the better power/ average hitters in the league for many years. He embodied everything that sports and RIMSBL stands for. George was a true gentleman (who) respected his teammates, his opponents and the game. He greeted everyone with a smile and gave his total support to his team and the league. In fact he was the 2012 receipient of the league's "Spirit of the Game" Award Presented to the league member(s) who, after at least one decade in the league, best exemplifies genuine camaraderie and friendship with, and support of, his teammates, respect and concern for his opponents and the league, and who consistently distinguishes himself through outstanding enthusiasm, effort and a positive attitude, for virtually every inning of every game he plays or attends.
In his honor, RIMSBL is renaming the award the George Nasuti "Spirit of the Game" Award.
George was a school principal, athletic director and coach who worked hard to restore and keep sports alive in the city of Woonsocket.
As we were made richer by his presence – we are all that much poorer with his passing. George leaves behind his wife Carol and sons Chris and Sean. Our thoughts and prayers are with them always.
